Mass Spectrometry

LTQ Orbitrap Hybrid mass spectrometer (from Thermo) interfaced with Eksigent nano LC
TSQ Quantum Discovery MAX mass spectrometer (from Thermo) interfaced with Shimadzu HPLC
LCQ DECA XP PLUS ion trap mass spectrometer from Thermo and Ulitmate capillary HPLC system.

DNA Synthesis and Purification     

Most oligonucleotide synthesis is subcontracted to IDT.  Particularly long oligonucleotides, those containing special bases and/or those requiring HPLC purification will be synthesized in-house using a Model 392 Applied Biosystems DNA synthesizer.

DNA Sequencing

DNA sequencing is subcontracted to GENEWIZ and Macrogen companies.

To submit samples for DNA sequencing:

Genewiz: go to http://clims.genewiz.com/NewAccount.aspx, setup an account, complete an on-line order form, and place your samples together with a copy of the form in the drop off refrigerator in front of LTL-136.
Data can be retrieved from the Genewiz server. For more info, please read the Genewiz-Princeton handout.

Macrogen: go to http://orders.macrogenusa.com, setup an account, complete an on-line order form, and place your samples together with a copy of the form in the drop off refrigerator in front of LTL-136.

Peptide Synthesis and Purification

            Peptide synthesis is performed on an Applied Biosystems Model 433A peptide synthesizer using  FMOC solid phase synthesis (Merrifield) chemistry.  The purification is performed using an Agilent 1100 reverse phase HPLC system.

N-terminal protein sequencing

N-terminal protein sequencing using Edman degradation chemistry is subcontracted to another core facility.
